Vibrant, pink flowers form along the upright stems of this rare plant from Papua, New Guinea. Its broad, deeply veined leaves with purple to reddish undersides protect the column of flowers clustered along the stems. As a semi-epiphytic plant, remember to dry out between watering and grow in a porous potting mixture such as sphagnum moss in a clay pot. As the plant matures, the vibrant show of flowers becomes more wondrous. These plants are 6-8” tall.
Special Note: Medinilla plants naturally excrete small, round grains, or growth sugars, on the undersides of the leaves. While sometimes confused for insect eggs or a sign of disease, these sugar grains are actually a sign of normal, healthy growth, and are nothing to be worried about.

Alisa The plant was packaged nice. I unwrapped it waited a day and repotted the plant i noticed a couple of brown spots but figured it would be ok. Next day i called logee’s and i was told it was normal. Now three days later it’s worse i called back to let logee’s know and i was told they would check into and get back to me. I also ordered a different plant hoping it will be no issues with it, but this will be the last time i order plants from logee’s.

It’s good to hear the plant arrived well packaged, but I understand your concern about the brown spotting and the way it progressed after repotting. Some plants can show stress symptoms after shipping and again after being moved into new soil, as both transit and repotting are significant adjustments. That said, worsening condition over a few days is something we absolutely want to evaluate rather than dismiss.
When you called, we were correct that minor spotting can sometimes be normal shipping or acclimation stress—but given that you’re seeing continued decline, we do want to take a closer look and make sure we’re addressing the actual condition of the plant rather than assuming it will stabilize.

Rachid This plant is truly unique. The leaves look like velvet and the blooms are a very bright pink. It requires a lot of attention to stay healthy. I grow it under a glass bell for parts of the year and remove the bell intermittently. I have had it for several years. If you don't mind the effort, it will reward you with unique tropical beauty throughout the year when it gets strong enough to come out of the bell.
